put there together just like a collage...

I am slowly (but surely) working my way through issue two of FELT. My real work has taken it's toll and FELT has slowed down. But it has certainly not stopped. Hopefully some of you are thankful of this. Anyway, I have been searching for inspiration for the final section of the magazine which is all about icons of the everyday. I thought a mish-mash collage style would suit the idea perfectly but as some of you know when you set out to make a collage it can become contrived and no longer organic. I want this article to have a certain sleek element to it but I do not want to lose the vibrance you get from a homemade collage.

I have been collecting images from the great world of Pinterest (what a brilliant site for such things) to help cement the look and feel I want my imagery to have. As you can see they are all quite different but all suck you in and make you look twice. This is the vibe I want the imagery in the editorial to have because (in my opinion) that is what the article is all about. And since FELT is a fashion journal I thought the best thing to do was to include outfits of our home-grown bloggers within the collages. Let's just hope that this will work out... Please.

graphic monday...

I can finally get back into Graphic Monday... It may not be the most popular segment of my blog but I think it's important for me to keep up to date with all things aesthetic in the world of graphic design and I enjoy showing you guys. Plus who doesn't want to look at pretty things right?

Anyway... This is The Design Society journal, it is a bi-annual journal created for The Design Society (TDS) of Singapore. That is really all I know about it I'm afraid but I do find it quite impressive. In particular their use of the one punchy colour over black and white text. And how they play with large sections of all caps (which apparently we shouldn't do but I think it looks gorgeous!) I wish more magazines were daring like this (no matter what the content), I mean you pay a hefty price for a magazine these days. The very least you deserve is to be visually stimulated at ever page turn. But maybe that's just me...

work update...

Sorry for the lack of posting... Have been seriously trying to get stuck into my final project, which is a fashion magazine (Hurray!) Thought I'd give you all just a taster of some of the visuals I've made for it. Each style is for a different article that thankfully a few helpful bloggers wrote for me. Thanks Sarah, Catherine and Sinead for that! And also thanks to Margaret from 4ngsquared2 for being my beautiful model.

Hopefully it'll all work out and I'll have a killer little magazine on my hands!

dirty...

Love this cover... Mainly because that madam there is big and beautiful and full of attitude! She is a burlesque dancer and goes by the name of Dirty Martini. She's funny, she's outrageous and I want her swimsuit!
