week #6 / week #7

Another two week whopper special! I really have to stop doing this... At least I am still keeping up with the photographs... Including week 8 which I have just finished I am at 56 photos, only 309 to go! Phew! As usual the are all muddled up and are a bit of everything. I've been so busy I haven't had the opportunity to make use of the lovely sunshine though, and I keep seeing amazing things to photograph while driving... It's quite annoying that most of these images end up being taken at night. Oh well! I will persevere and do my best to use my lunches for some photography fun!

Anyone else doing a 365 Project? Please tell me about it, are you keeping it up? Have you found it difficult? Do you feel more creative for doing it? I'd love to know...

week #4... week #5...

I have realised that taking a photo a day is fine, it's doable. The issue is getting around to actually posting them up here. You'd think that'd be the easy part but sadly free time is becoming slim and I just want to relax when I have it to spare. You know yourself. So apologies, but here is a two week bumper special 365 post. Two weeks for the price of one and all that!

So yet again I'll give you a very brief run down of the images taken in the past fortnight. We have the dead hydrangeas in my garden, the river Shannon just behind my office, the view from Mount Leinster, our dog Ruby (being disturbed from her sleep), my tartan pencil skirt, an empty brandy glass, my knitted minion (Llewelyn) going a tad mental in the car, the view from the car on the commute home (don't worry I wasn't driving), the desktop image from my mac in work (downloaded from here), the lime kilns just outside Carlow town, the view of the motorway as seen from the passenger-side mirror, my gorgeous red shoes on equally gorgeous tiles, furniture from work (I love that couch) and a silhouette of my boyfriend Cormac while he watches the telly.

Hopefully I'll be able to be more punctual on my 365 project next week!

week #3...

Three weeks are over and done with and I have to say I am finding this 365 Project really hard. I'm not forgetting to take photos or anything but I find it hard to get the time to take a truly decent shot and not quick ones on the phone. I think the images are quite interesting but not all that special. Well apart from the last one which is of my beautiful sister, Karen, and her baby bump. She wanted a pregnant lady shot and allowed me to shoot it how I liked. I went all simple and sweet and I am super happy with it (and so is she, thankfully!)

So again in order I'll give you a rundown of last weeks shots... Prepare to be dazzled! So we have, my workmate, Katie's over the top awesome sleeve, the mileage gauge yolk on my car while waiting for my other workmate Trish, The unbelievably intricate gift wrapping on my sister's birthday gift (from Bonzie), the fake orchids in the bathroom in work (as opposed to the dead ones at home), the really old rug in the guest bedroom at home that I covet dearly, a little sign from the nursery at my sister's and then my sister holding the bump of her first child.

On to week four!

week #2

Ok so week number two is over and done with. Some of these photographs I am super happy with, others were taken because I was feeling a little uninspired so I literally photographed what I was looking at. But at least I took them which is all that counts! So in order, I will tell you (in brief)what is going on in this weeks snapshots of life. (Inhale) The view from my window at work, the view leaving work, the view going to work (I was the passenger that week), old petrol pumps that I stare at from time to time, martini drank from a Babysham glass (celebrating Friday/drowning momentary sorrow), the heart hanging from my bed post (yeah I nearly forgot to take one that day- but the heart was bought by my mum and is super pretty, so it's graaaaaand) and finally the dead orchid flower that fell from the plant in the bathroom.

I know, you're so glad I shared... eh no.

week #1

Week one of my 365 project is over, only 359 days left to go! Photos were taken on my Nikon D3100 and my iphone (the iphone ones are a little blurry-oops!) I hope my images will get better with time but sure everyone's gotta start somewhere...  What you are looking at are the curtains in my boyfriends room when we were slightly hungover, the telephone pole outside my office, my drunk monkey buddy at my desk, the leaning tower of ginger biscuits, the eye of a horse as it ate my coat sleeve and a beautiful lamp in my boyfriends mother's house that constantly has me mesmerized.

I wasn't kidding when I said I was going to photograph everyday stuff. Now on to week two!

365...

I've read about 365 projects before... Some were pretty spectacular to be honest. And for awhile I felt that I hadn't the time to really do one, one that was good. But I've been thinking about it and I think I'm going to try and do one. A real one, something that will help me develop a skill I hold dear. That skill is photography ladies and genrlemen. I like to think that I am good at photography. That I can hold my own and deliver decent shots. But I never really give myself the opportunity to really experiment, and I think I need to.

So this year I hope to take a photograph of something that I see (and thought would make a nice picture) everyday. Whether I'm at work or out hiking, shopping or even chillin' on the couch. And I hope to post on a Monday the seven shots each week for your viewing pleasure, and of course to help me keep on track. It'll be tricky to find new things and new ways to photograph but I look forward to the challenge. To photograph people, places, things... And it will also be a great way to document my year and encourage me to do new things. I really am dying to get started!

Anyone else going to try out a 365 project for 2013?

A Beautiful Mess
Rain always makes me dream of different things. It makes me restless for a bit of change, not in the weather but in me. And not big changes don't worry, just new things to think and to try and to get wrong sometimes. It's the changing of the seasons and why shouldn't we change just like it... Moods and feelings and thoughts and actions.

I am lusting after wide leg items, not just jeans but also trousers; to suit the autumn months. I want to a place to stack my books high, not just on shelves but on floors also. I thankfully have collected quite a few (with the intention of getting more) and I think they give a bit of character stacked in such a way, though I just know my mother would SERIOUSLY disagree. My sister is expecting and it makes me want to find an old camera, dust it off and just go snap happy with it. Digital photos are not suitable for this big change in all our lives (it's my first time to be an aunty!) and we should have something concrete to hold onto as the little one grows. I want to (a) buy one of these prints and (b) become more daring in my colour scheme in my work. Experiment while I can before I get a real job and have to restrain myself somewhat. And finally due to bad weather I want to enjoy cheesy comfort food. This mozzarella, pesto and tomato tart looks like it would go down extremely well!
