being cool...

These were taken last week but only now do I have time to put them up... My life is too busy and not in the good way. Anyway! So I threw this outfit on one morning while rushing to get ready for the day, probably too casual for most places of work but perfectly suitable for the production section where I work. Didn't think I looked all that fresh but I was inundated with compliments (for my hat in particular), my boss told me I had seriously raised the style stakes in the office and one colleague even told me I looked cool... So cool that she sang about it (while in the kitchen-it was kind of epic). Just goes to show the littlest details grab peoples attention. Would I have gotten a single comment if I was sans hat? Who knows? I did feel pretty cool though. And I think it showed. I may have had a bit of a swagger, a wee bit of a strut. Can't be helped really...

first world problems: baggy trousers...

I love the colour of these jeans. It was the deciding fact when buying them online. That and the fact that I needed a new pair of skinny jeans. Yes I said skinny jeans. They are supposed to look like this! But sadly like most skinny jeans that I try on/purchase they are terribly baggy once they make it half way down my thigh. I always thought I had fairly shapely legs but evidently for my size I got scrawny yolks for pins. I know what you're thinking, this is a ridiculous thing to complain about and I should be happy with my relatively slender legs. I probably should get over it but if my legs are one of my best features I should be able to show them off in skinny jeans and these are sadly not working... And what's even more sad is that this isn't a new problem.

I am half way between an apple shape and an hourglass shape. And one of the tips the experts gave women who were apples was to show off their slender legs in skinny trousers and I happen to agree. I look best in skinny pants. I don't have to wear heels to make them look nicer and I don't have to choose the "right" top to make other pants look more flattering on me. They are truly my go to pants. This is why I love those heavy ski-pant type leggings (well that and they are so very comfy!) So you can understand that it can get a little more than vexing when you can't find anything to fit your legs and your waist.

So I am gonna do my first DIY post. Well I won't be doing anything I'll just be documenting it. My mother (wonder women with a sewing machine) is going to make the legs of what can only be called my chinos smaller so that I can prance around all carefree like I do in my head. I decided to document this because I cannot be the only girl to have this problem, I simply can't!

day to day...

This is quite similar to my day to day wear if I've got nothing on or nowhere to go... These days consist on working on FELT and other freelance projects, walking the dog, chilling with the boyfriend, cooking food and reading magazines. I have been jumping through loose tees (I seriously have a thing for them lately) skinnies/ski-type pants and clogs/ankle boots. A simple enough combination that I think works out ok. Not the most dazzling of outfit creations but for days when you want to be comfortable then I suggest this. At least I don't un-stylish when I wear it. My hair is up today though, which I hate but I was lazy (shameful). I tend to keep it down as much as I can because I really don't think it suits me up...

I love both these clog/sandals and this tee (though I realise now I look kinda pregnant in it, which is probably not the best look). The sandals are super comfy and are great for those over-cast days that are still sticky but you don't dare put on your favourite summer dress for fear of looking like a fool. And I still love this tee... In the mirror I think it looks quite flattering but I could be wrong. Damn deceitful mirror! It's still cool and chic and comfy... And comfort is my main priority this summer since I can't predict what the weather will decide to do next.

Before the rain set in my mother and I went into town (what a glorious place to be!) We decided to hit a few exhibitions seeing as it is Eigse after all (Eigse is a week long art festival here in Carlow) and topped it off with a gorgeous lunch in a lovely local restaurant called Lennons. If you are ever in Carlow do try to eat there, it's so quirky and chic and very very tasty! I thoroughly enjoyed the several exhibitions that were dotted around the town. Some stuff were good, some stuff I didn't understand. But that is the beauty of art, in my opinion at least.

I got myself a maxi dress (as ye can see) and I am thrilled with it! I really hated the brightly coloured empire-line ones, I just looked like a heavily pregnant woman in them so they were a definite no-no. But this kind is very urban and relaxed and well cooler (again in my opinion). AND I don't look preggers which is always a bonus! It is super light and super comfy and it is rapidly becoming a staple... Though I wish I had it in black as well. Sure isn't that always the way.

The last shot was of the last gallery we went to. The building was just gorgeous inside (exposed brick work and everything just left as it was) so I took a sneaky snap on my phone while no one was looking and while begging my mother to stop touching the work. They were tactile pieces in her opinion and she could stroke away!
