being cool...

These were taken last week but only now do I have time to put them up... My life is too busy and not in the good way. Anyway! So I threw this outfit on one morning while rushing to get ready for the day, probably too casual for most places of work but perfectly suitable for the production section where I work. Didn't think I looked all that fresh but I was inundated with compliments (for my hat in particular), my boss told me I had seriously raised the style stakes in the office and one colleague even told me I looked cool... So cool that she sang about it (while in the kitchen-it was kind of epic). Just goes to show the littlest details grab peoples attention. Would I have gotten a single comment if I was sans hat? Who knows? I did feel pretty cool though. And I think it showed. I may have had a bit of a swagger, a wee bit of a strut. Can't be helped really...

summer wanting...

Is that sunshine I see outside... Probably not but I'm going to pretend it is. I can actually feel the heat on my back as I type this. So.... as we head into summer I realised that after my weight loss (about 18 pounds and counting!) I don't have loads of great casual pieces. I need to get a few pieces to tide me over... And of course a few new accessories to jazz up what I already own (and what fits me again.) These pieces are but a few things I want to get for myself (I'm also getting my talented friend to make me a dress.) I also need to invest in shorts but I haven't found the perfect pair yet.

day to day...

This is quite similar to my day to day wear if I've got nothing on or nowhere to go... These days consist on working on FELT and other freelance projects, walking the dog, chilling with the boyfriend, cooking food and reading magazines. I have been jumping through loose tees (I seriously have a thing for them lately) skinnies/ski-type pants and clogs/ankle boots. A simple enough combination that I think works out ok. Not the most dazzling of outfit creations but for days when you want to be comfortable then I suggest this. At least I don't un-stylish when I wear it. My hair is up today though, which I hate but I was lazy (shameful). I tend to keep it down as much as I can because I really don't think it suits me up...

I love both these clog/sandals and this tee (though I realise now I look kinda pregnant in it, which is probably not the best look). The sandals are super comfy and are great for those over-cast days that are still sticky but you don't dare put on your favourite summer dress for fear of looking like a fool. And I still love this tee... In the mirror I think it looks quite flattering but I could be wrong. Damn deceitful mirror! It's still cool and chic and comfy... And comfort is my main priority this summer since I can't predict what the weather will decide to do next.

wish I was wearing #11

The weather is fresh... Sunny then wet then sunny then cloudy then breezy then sunny then wet again. For me fresh weather calls for a long comfortable dress with my old reliable converse. I am finding my maxi skirts a Godsend in this weather. They are cool enough for the sunny days but still keep me covered and warm on the wetter days. To add some colour (since it is summer after all) I want to just slip on a pretty blazer and and carry around a massive bag to hold everything: from my camera to my compact.

Also I just really want that watch.

see I wear colour...

See I can totally wear colour... I told you I could. But in small doses and with loads of black to ease me into it. Also these trousers are the most comfortable things I own! It's like wearing pyjamas except they're not covered in little pink piggys or teddies. Probably ridiculously unflattering on me considering they are pleated and tapered. But I stuck on heels and a pretty necklace to make that all better. I hope...

wish I was wearing #2

A lazy Saturday calls for a not so lazy outfit. Being a student does not lend itself to dressing fussy or fancy. I genuinely crave the days when I can dress like this on a daily basis. Perfect for heading from work to grabbing a few cocktails...

When that happens I can keep my lazy Saturday outfits.

Catching the surf...

We all know I love the style from back in the twenties/thirties/forties/fifties/sixties/seventies (ok anything vintage!) but lately I've been seriously crushing on fifties pin-up/rockabilly-esque looks. I find it quite sexy without being too revealing and still has its little quirks and fun. In my mind it doesn't take itself too seriously, which is just perfect for me. I've been slowly creating a collection retro style pieces to suit my shape and those jeans and shirt (among many) are on my list! I have already bought this dress along with other stuff of a similar style...

So if the weather would stop being temperamental and decide (already!) to come out and play this how I would love to be dressed for my summer days. Kitsch, tropical prints, high waisted jeans or shorts, espadrilles, head-scarfs and retro shades. Would also be great if I could keep up wearing lipstick (like a true fifties lady!)

Or maybe I'll just entice the sunshine and good weather with my killer summer looks (wink wink and leg pop.)

Nom Nom Nom...

Ah these booties are gorgeous! I have been imagining what I would wear these with beauties, midi skirts and ballet tops come to mind. They are from Topshop but sadly are well out of my budget at approximately €85 (I hate being broke). So I am gonna watch them closely, ya never know, a good sale could come along and they could be mine! Fingers crossed!

I would pick the grey ones over the tan ones but beggars can't be choosers. Its times like these where I wish I was influential enough that Topshop would just give me a pair (size 5, cheers) and that would be the end of it... Sigh

I've been noticing this oriental vibe that seems to be doing the rounds. I like it, obviously in small doses. A trend like this can go horribly wrong in my opinion. I think it is all about subtleties, a hair clip behind your ear, a lipstick on a toned down face, a kimono jacket over skinnies. I don't think the all over geisha look is something we should strive for, at least I'm not going to. It is another trend that is having a revival but this time around it's much more relaxed, the kimono jacket being something that has interested many. It's loose, swishy and chilled... Perfect for the long summer nights that I'm hoping will return.

I am trying to conjure an outfit from my existing wardrobe (money is tight unfortunately) and I think I would keep it in the accessories. I've wedged oriental patterned shoes in a gorgeous turquoise and a white orchid comb. I think they'll work well for this trend.

If unlike me you are not strapped for cash (lucky thing) here is what I would be spending my money on if you're into this trend. My favourite would have to be the dress from Topshop. Utterly divine! Also the people who made that origami stick have loads of beautiful things along the same lines on clips as well. So pretty in my opinion.

The lipstick names in order are: Lady Danger, Cyber (I actually do have this one) and Neon Orange. All from MAC.

White is a colour that is a major trend this summer. It is most certainly a colour I will enjoy wearing. I already have three white dresses, but sure, I could do with a few more white pieces. There are hundreds of gorgeous pieces on the high street but here are a few pieces that I really really want! Out of all of them my favourites are the blazer and the brogues. Oh they are delicious!

This all-white look is a tad scary though. It looks gorgeous on the models but in the real world how practical is it really? (God I'm talking about practicality!) But I'm serious, when I wear white I am always extra cautious not to stain the garment, a stain is always a billion times worse when it's on something white. I immediately rush to the ladies to dab water on it. But sure I could give it ago I suppose, what are washing machines for. Tis all in the name of fashion.

I think if I was to wear all white I would put on some strong coral/purple/red lippy to add some colour, and of course a big block colour handbag! Nothing better than a bit of pop against all that white.

Cold sun keeps me hopeful...

Yesterday I woke up to the sun shining through my window and I got that ever too familiar feeling of summer. It is awhile away but the feeling is slowly seeping into my thawing bones.

And so I am think of my summer wardrobe, which is always good in my head but never fully materialises (hopefully it will this year). At the moment I'm dreaming of palazzo pants, chunky wooden sandals, full skirted shirt dresses, flares, raybans, leather belts, muted lipstick, floppy hats, fedora hats, leather/suede shorts and muted colours such as burnt orange, camel, khaki, white, grey, petrol blue and dusky pink.

Too much???

I'm lusting after these two pair of shorts at the moment. Materials are divine, Cuts are beautiful and the colours are yummy yummy! I think they'd work with both faded band tees and converse and also with silk blouses and platform sandals.

Am I too early to be wanting my summer wardrobe? Does anyone else get bored of their seasonal wardrobes and die to get into the next season? Right now I want my summer wardrobe but come September I will want my chunky knits, opaque tights and leather boots.

Maybe I'm just fickle...

A print to float around in...

This Alexander McQueen Gown that Mila Kunis wore to the SAG Awards stunned and amazed me... It is so beautiful! So floaty, so soft, so fun yet so very elegant. Obviously I wish I could have the real mccoy but I do not have the bank balance needed to support that sort of wardrobe.

But I came across Topshops new Unique  SS11 collection and it does have the same floaty, summery, fun vibe that I get when look at the Alexander McQueen dress. It's fun, it's fresh and has a slight "apocalyptic summer" feel to it (if that makes any sense). Obviously more expensive than the regular Topshop items, they are still a damn sight cheaper than any designer label.

My favourite item is that red skirt! I wanna throw it on with a black body and some seriously demented black stilettos and a gold clutch and make my hair really really big!

blissfully loose...

College projects have taken over my life and even though I have a love affair with the fitted form I've noticed myself throwing on my giant denim shirt when doing college work. It's soft, comfy, loose and so easy going. I don't have to worry about fixing myself every 5 minutes.

So right now I am dreaming (instead of finishing off my menu) of loose fitted dress that can be worn with converse, chunky socks and a messy beehive ponytail (don't ask, its the hairstyle I've been lusting after for awhile).

Sadly I do not have the funds to shop online or the spare time to snoop out Penneys so I will have to do with my beloved denim shirt. It is being worn again tomorrow (with floral hot pants and tights).

Just a few...

Was browsing this morning in Topshop to see what they had to offer me and I found some darling things that I now want, no, need in my wardrobe and in my life...

First up are a pair of suedette leggings. I really want a pair. Last year was leather (which I still love) but this year seems to be suede and (unfortunately) velvet when it comes to ones leggings. The suede is cool, bohemian, effortlessly chic and deserves recognition. Velvet just reminds of Juicy Couture and soccer moms who should know better. Not good.

But Suede leggings gets the thumbs up from me... now gimme!

The second is this stunning crochet kimono cardigan thingy! Reason for my lust is probably due to the seventies trend that I am so in love with this year. But also because its very very pretty and looks super comfy. Perfect for jeans on a sunny afternoon (when will that come?).

The final item of my desire is this little yellow number. You may disagree but I feel it is quite diverse and a perfect day-to-night piece. If it were mine I would wear it with my with tee and cute pomps during the day and then slip on my dark brown platform sandals and boyfriend blazer for night. A messy model look... Perfect!

Ok I'm done drooling...

Now can someone give me the money to buy these pretty things, please and thank you!

Drink me...

There are loads of colours on trend at the mo.... and as well as copper I am loving burgundy... or bordeaux or wine or whatever you kids are calling it these days. I think it is a sophisticated colour, sophisticated but fun. Dark, daring and dangerous yet playful. It's the colour the cool kids wear. I need to get some! It really is a shock to the system realising I don't have any burgundy coloured clothes to my name... seriously must remedy this.

I have burgundy lipstick, that's a start.

Another want, another need...

I wanna do some screen prints in these bad boys! Wear these in college, they are too cool to wear out.

Seriously want to wear more heels to college and these would do just fine...

Topshop send me these, please and thank you.
