warm fingers...

Ok my first proper post in awhile... Forgive me, I need to get back into the swing of things. Well my camera is on the fritz so the next few posts will be items like this and probably so dodgy iPhone snaps. Enjoy!

Anyway, getting into the car the past few days my poor hands have been subjected to frozen steering wheels and icy breezes. I know it's the first of November now so I should be expecting that but the truth is that I haven't thought to buy gloves yet. (I need to rectify that this weekend on my Saturday ramble with my ma.) I did a little online browsing to find some inspiration and I feel I've found a pair for the three sides of my style... Well the three sides that I'm aware of anyway.

Little Princess: A side I don't show a whole lot of but she comes out in my accessories and in my love of sparkles and bows. This pair are from the Etsy shop Gertie Baxter and come in a few colours but I'm of the opinion if you're gonna go girly you need to go the whole hog. If I had these I would be pairing them with a navy full skirted coat, a fur collar and nude fishnets.

Mature Elegance: I swear I'm elegant (SERIOUSLY!). Well even if I have the grace of a baby elephant I still want to look sleek. These gloves are from Echo at Modcloth. What I love about them is the rich teal colour and then the subtle trim. Adding a bit of spice without looking over the top. I'd pair these with a fur swing coat, emerald earrings and black stilettos.

Chic Wanderer: This is me most of the time, messy and slightly confused but still tries to make the effort. I think it works! Well the perfect pair of gloves for this side of me is a pair of mittens from Bonzie. Snuggly and covered in the prettiest bits the world has to offer! Would look amazing with an oversized coat and some leather ankle boots.

So there you have it! I'll probably end up buying a cheapo pair from Penneys (rent and the commute are taking all my money!) But if I had a choice it would be one or all of these babies!

want, need, wear, read...

Saw this on another blog and I just loved the simplicity of it. Simple and informative! And who doesn't love a good poem? But seriously, I think it's a nice way to sum up what I'm feeling and what is inspiring me every week. As a graphic designer (and a general creative type) finding inspiration is key.

This week I am buzzing with thoughts.

Want: This beautiful dress from Modcloth. Mint and feminine, this dress would help to introduce a fresher more spring-ish vibe to my wardrobe. I know the weather outside is awful but I don't want my clothes to reflect that. A friend once said that she enjoyed wearing colour when it was so grey outside. I think she may have been on to something.

Need: My sister is due her baby literally any day now and I promised her to take Polaroids of her baby to match the Polaroids she has of herself as a newborn. I have the film ready but I need to get my hands on a Polaroid camera. Due to get one off a buddy of mine but I fear that the baby may be here before that. Fingers crossed that I can keep my promise. I seriously need to buy a camera for myself.

Wear: I know I've been banging on about this necklace from Bonzie but it was my birthday over the weekend and my boyfriend can take the hint (less of a hint and more of a blunt request). It is now in my possession and I'm even more obsessed with it! It really is a statement piece so I'm trying to pair it my simple staples so that it really stands out. Hopefully, an outfit post will be up soon of it.

Read: The book is called Lucy. It is by Laurence Gonzales and is about a mutant half ape/half girl found in the jungle. So it's a sci-fi Jungle Book? Maybe not... I've only just started it (weeks ago-been too tired to read religiously) and I am liking it so far. It seems like it's going to be quite sinister... If you've read it let me know what you thought.

week #3...

Three weeks are over and done with and I have to say I am finding this 365 Project really hard. I'm not forgetting to take photos or anything but I find it hard to get the time to take a truly decent shot and not quick ones on the phone. I think the images are quite interesting but not all that special. Well apart from the last one which is of my beautiful sister, Karen, and her baby bump. She wanted a pregnant lady shot and allowed me to shoot it how I liked. I went all simple and sweet and I am super happy with it (and so is she, thankfully!)

So again in order I'll give you a rundown of last weeks shots... Prepare to be dazzled! So we have, my workmate, Katie's over the top awesome sleeve, the mileage gauge yolk on my car while waiting for my other workmate Trish, The unbelievably intricate gift wrapping on my sister's birthday gift (from Bonzie), the fake orchids in the bathroom in work (as opposed to the dead ones at home), the really old rug in the guest bedroom at home that I covet dearly, a little sign from the nursery at my sister's and then my sister holding the bump of her first child.

On to week four!

Burnt polka dots...

The weather has suddenly become bleak again... oh well back to work so. Even though the weather has changed I decided not to hide my legs, I live in hope. This outfit was kinda thrown together with not much thought process put into it (which is very unlike me). I wanted to be comfortable but not terribly lazy looking... I suppose that could be called a thought process.

I'd say low-top converse would be much cooler with this outfit but I haven't bought any yet. I want either an orange pair or a green pair... or a blue pair. This cardigan I rarely wore until recently. I used to have it open all the time and it just looked wrong. Then one day I was freezing so I buttoned up and it worked so much better. So now I use it as a crop top.

The real wonder of this outfit is this beautiful burnt orange hairband which I bought from Bonzie at Style @ Set over the weekend (full post on that soon). I absolutely love it! My second day in a row to wear it. I love hairbands but I find some of them can be terribly awkward to wear. This is the exact opposite, not only is it divine but it is so comfy on my head, I barely notice it.

Cardigan: Warehouse
Skirt: Awear (used to be a dress)
Converse: Gift
Hairband: Bonzie
