atelier...

H&M launched their Versace collection in Ireland this week but I have been drooling over the Versace Atelier autumn/winter 2011 collection instead. The elegance and extravagance of it all! It has the essence of the original Versace style (the bold patterns, the vibrant, punchy colours) but I also feel it is very grown up, very demure, very alluring, very luxurious. And of course very quirky! Which is always a good thing. Elegance and quirkiness always make beautiful babies together.

They should carry on making babies...

Every piece from this collection is like a work of art. Exquisite and divine. Stunning from every angle. I especially love the amazing pink number. Talk about eye catching! Why weren't these in H&M?

miu miu...

I know in the fashion world we are already looking at Spring/Summer 2012, but I just can't do that. Fashion for me is truly in the now... I want to enjoy my clothes and not yearn too much for the next season. I know that I already do a little bit of that anyway, so looking at next seasons collection would just make it worse.

Anyway, back to Miu Miu. Their Autumn/Winter 2011 collection is in one word DIVINE! It is so lady-like, so elegant, so forties, yet so quirky and youthful all at the same time. I honestly don't think there is a single part of these outfits that I don't like. I mean why would you with the interesting cuts, the muted (yet still strong) colour scheme, the elegant fit of the dresses, the AMAZING shoes... even the hair and shades are gorgeous.

I like to see Miu Miu making lady-like chic a little quirky but yet still wearable. Yes, I am very happy indeed. Now I just need to be able to afford them.

Asos White Launches...

Asos White have just launched their Spring/Summer collection. This seems to be a gorgeous collection! As you can see this is their take on this massive colour block trend that is doing the rounds, as we all know. The collection is cool, chic and ever so sophisticated. The cuts/shapes of these items are what make them special, in my opinion anyway, they are simple shapes with something extra special added to them... like those sleeves! These certainly are staple pieces with a good auld kick!

These are the pieces that would be in my wardrobe if I wasn't a broke student. My two favourites are the dress and trousers. Gotta love those pants!

Little Jill...

I came across this collection on Fashion Gone Rogue today. It is Jill Stuart's SS11 collection and I have to say it's pretty fab. I will admit that until today I had never heard of Jill Stuart but I will keep an eye out for her in the future. I'm liking her taste...

This whole collection just seems girly with a dash of masculine structure. Muted shades against a strong blue-ish black add to the sophistication of the pieces and floaty fabrics are contrasted with suede ankle boots. It is a pretty collection. It is a striking collection. My favourites have to be the first two. Something very sexy about that fitted suit and who wouldn't want that dress?! But then again I am a sucker for accordian pleats.

Also am loving the model's eye make up. Love that glossy bronze!

Sure it's all pants...

 YSL

Marc Jacobs

So I was skimming through some of the spring 2010 ready-to-wear collections yesterday and I felt very uninspired. A lot of it was just a tad bland or a tad nasty...

But, there was one trend slipping through some of the collections I did like... liked a lot actually. It was in fact the high waisted, wide leg trousers. I love a good pair of trousers but believe it or not I only own one pair (shock horror I know). I really hope this trend trickles down onto the high street. I've already seen flowery ones in Awear that I want! Unfortunately they don't seem to be selling them... yet.

The YSL look is very sleek, sexy and sophisticated... Possibly for a night out or even for the office (with a gorgeous fitted blazer). And the Marc Jacobs really interests because they are nice and colourful. Now I tend to have a more muted coloured wardrobe but I would gladly team any of those trousers with some greay/cream/black/whatever I can find or perhaps I could just start to like wearing loads of colour! Plus they remind me of the movie Evil under the Sun, but that could just be the big hats.

Have you found a trend you feel you will making your own this spring?

Winter loving...

Was tipped off by a friend of mine to have a good auld look at the Autumn/Winter 2010/2011 collection. She told me that I was going to love it and she was right! So very very right! It is the nicest designer collection I have seen in awhile... I love nearly ever single bit of it!

There is a whole fifties ladylike theme surrounding this collection, with its gloves, long full skirts, velvet bow shoes and nipped in waists (if you know me you know how I love my nipped in waists!). I am also loving the selection of fabrics they used. You just gotta love the velvet straps and leather full skirts as well the tweed, heavy wool and faille. And the colours! So simple, so elegant, so perfect!

It is safe to say I am in love...

Go check out the rest of the collection at the Louis Vuitton website.

Like a sheep at Oxygen...

Now I know it is the summer, but I am looking out the window and it is simply bucketing down... So forgive me for thinking of lace-up booties and warm woolies (my wardrobe for the winter: must buy lace-up boots). When the sun comes out I will rejoice and dance in my floaty dresses and my bare legs but for now I am dreaming of the oncoming fashion season.

The image that got my heart racing from the RTE Guide (apologies on the poor quality).

And I am crushing over the H&M collection. I first noticed it in this weeks RTE Guide of all places. I have to say I like what I see (don't you???) and I am looking forward to the collection coming out and making some of these pieces (hopefully) my own.

The whole collection has this air of mismatched chic that I am totally loving... Mixing heavy wools and busy patterns with strict tailoring and layering loads. I love the ethnic meets office chic! The textures are gorgeous and the colour scheme is simple and classic with a few bold streaks to dazzle the eyes and warm the soul.

I need those boots by the way...

The second winter collection I am lusting after is the Topshop collection. It is divine! The capes, the socks, the shorts, the heavy wools and gorgeous layering.... I want it all, I need it all. I have a feeling I will be inspired heavily by this collection this winter and I have my eye on that tartan cape (simply gorgeous!). Again it has this rough and ready, mismatched chic (with a little bit of lady like glamour thrown in for good measure) and I think it works beautifully!

I am loving the summer and want the sun to come back and stay awhile longer, but when the days grow short and the temperature drops it is good to know this winter's style will keep frostbite away and keep the jealous glances coming...

No baskets of fruit...

I am really really liking the 2011 Resort collection by Chris Benz. I just think it is stunning... Simple as.

Benz says he was thinking of Sascha Brastoff, a mid-century ceramist as a starting off point. Brastoff's muses included Carmen Miranda. Miranda was quite the tomboy in the forties and this was also an inspiration for Benz.

I feel the Carmen Miranda vibe from these pieces but also just a slight bit of Jackie O, especially in the designing of the hair. I really do get the feel of outlandish holidays in Brazil or Argentina when I look at this collection. I can just imagine some ridiculously rich aristocratic couple had landed in South America for the summer and this is what was in the woman's many many suitcases.

Maybe thats why I love this collection so much...

Apologies about the amount of pictures, I found it very hard to narrow down this collection.

The Madame swoops down to strike...

Just found the Madame Hawk 2010 Spring/Summer collection on Knightcat and I just had to share it with you!

I think it is a very very pretty collection, perfect for summer. I love the choices of colours (pastels *sigh*) and everything looks so fresh and clean cut. It has this "prim and proper that got kinda lost in the woods but came out feeling much better" vibe (I know that sounds like the most stupid vibe ever but just go with it).

I also love the sock layering paired with super high sandals. A look I think I will try to replicate, could be hard, I don't wanna look like a granny at the seaside (no offense to grannies I'm just not quite there yet).

Looking Cool...

Here are some pieces from the Stolen Girlfriends Club collection... And I think it looks so so so cool and chic... There is something about this collection that screams " I get up at three in the afternoon and have a big mug of coffee as I watch the world go by...." It has an air of ease and casualness about it, almost like it is saying "relax, look good, someone else will do all the work." I imagine if I ever wore these clothes I would feel so cool and that everyone would wanna be my buddy! It is very interesting what people can feel from different clothes...

My favourite piece of this collection are the thick, wooly hot pants. I know I don't have the guts to wear them just yet, but you never know I might get brave some day...
