felt...

So I'm back!

And I am delighted to be! It has been a seriously hectic few weeks but I am so glad to say that I managed it... I made a magazine for my end of year graduate exhibition. Felt Fashion Journal is my baby! For the exhibition I actually made the magazine but unfortunately there is only one copy and I really really wanted to share it with you guys so I thought I would create a digital copy.

I seriously would like to thank everyone who helped me. My brilliant journalists Sarah Waldron, Catherine Carr and Sinead Kelly. My absolutely beautiful models Margaret Urbanowicz and Emma Kilduff. And my painfully patient costume supervisor Christina Byrne.  I could not do it without you!

I hope you all enjoy it! Just follow the link

work update...

Sorry for the lack of posting... Have been seriously trying to get stuck into my final project, which is a fashion magazine (Hurray!) Thought I'd give you all just a taster of some of the visuals I've made for it. Each style is for a different article that thankfully a few helpful bloggers wrote for me. Thanks Sarah, Catherine and Sinead for that! And also thanks to Margaret from 4ngsquared2 for being my beautiful model.

Hopefully it'll all work out and I'll have a killer little magazine on my hands!

Work is weighing down on me and I cannot help but dream of a time when I'm free! I have been living in comfy clothes the past few days and it has made me realise how few comfortable items I actually own. So I have been lusting after comfortable maxi dresses, busted up converse, cool rockabilly hairstyles that will keep the hair out of my face while I'm working and casual tote bags to carry all my stuff around in. Eating healthy has also gone out the window for the time being... I want my food to be cheesy and delicious! And finally I have been leering at Richard Prince's Nurse collection, it's so sinister that I may die... or just keep looking.

instagram...

Believe it or believe it not I am using instagram for my latest project in college. The photos that I need to take have to have a seventies/faded/blurred look and nothing seems to do that quite as good (and quite as easy) as the auld instagram app! Delighted so I am...

So I have been snapping left, right and center the past week getting the right shots for the project. And I just thought I'd show some of them to you. The project is based around the Edies of Grey Gardens, describing how they became the way they are and why. I could go into more detail but I'm sure that would bore you...

Anyway, enjoy!

Dreaming of life after the thesis while I sit here... typing, always typing. I'm looking into 2012 and I feel excited... a big year ahead. I'll be growing up. College is insanely difficult at the moment and I'll be finishing up this year. I can't help but think what life will be like after college.

Right now I dream of beautiful work spaces, fussy and frilly underwear, old-fashioned posters of not so old movies (Eckersley would be proud), the beautifully cute bows of Lola Dee, listening to the smokey and sultry sound of Lana Del Rey and, dressing like I was born in the wrong decade.

busy bee...

Apologies for the lack of posting this week... But projects and essays and so forth are due and I have a portfolio to prepare. Which is actually what I wanted to share with you. Above are just some of the photos I took today. They are photos of my rough work/original designs and are for the research section of my portfolio. Proof (to you and the examiner) that I have been working hard and not just being a lazy so and so. Late nights were had (and not enjoyed) and tonight I am heading to the sack at a normal hour... and boy am I gonna love it!

I'm living life on the edge...

Fashion related post tomorrow or Saturday I hope!

silver factory...

So Wednesday night was the launch of the Silver Factory's new autumn/winter collection... I was delighted to have been invited but was devastated that college had to come first (boo fourth year!) Anyway... since the collection was launched I thought I'd have a little mosey on over to the website to see how the brand spanking new collection looked. And, of course, it was all gorgeous (no surprise there). The tshirts he creates are just so... well, perfect (for want of a better word). They work brilliantly on both genders, the designs are works of art, they aren't too expensive (discount on their facebook page) that you fear ripping them to make them work for you, and they are monochrome! (Who doesn't love monochrome?!) What more could ask for?

But I think the best thing about them is their practicality, a horrible word I agree. But think about it, anyone of these tshirts would make any humdrum skinnys suddenly hip. Living in the busy world that is  college life (with projects and thesis and all that other shtuff!) these tshirts are simply a god send to the fashion conscious student that has slept in... yet again!

My favourite? Well it would have to be the The End one, oh how I want it!

Young master Cavaliere you've done it again, here's hoping that many more seasons will follow...

A masterpiece if I ever saw one...

These are from the Christian Louboutin's Autumn 2011 lookbook. I love this! I truly do... There seven images in total and they are all inspired by classic portrait paintings. The photographer behind these masterpieces is Peter Lippman.

Love when people think outside the box.

Just enjoy them...

My uniform...

I realised I never told you guys that I landed an internship in an amazing art print studio, Graphic Studio Dublin. Three days a week until the end of July I am there doing my thang, and learning loads! Very happy indeed!

But obviously an art print studio is full of ink and other messy things and I'm doing a lot of standing and heavy lifting so I've been kind of living in these two items of clothing. My denim shirt and my converse (would you believe I've only had them a week, I'm good a get things filthy.) It is the perfect uniform for this job really, loose, comfortable but still kind of cool (bonus!) I just throw on various trousers, shorts, skirts underneath them everyday. I was thinking of wandering into Penneys and getting another denim shirt (just so I'm not in that one all day everyday.) Maybe a more fitted one... love fitted denim shirts.

Also I am in love with my new cons, I wear them nearly everyday, even when I'm not working. I've been wanting a lo-top pair for awhile now. Didn't really know what colour to get, then I saw a girl in my college wearing these ones with skinny jeans and I was convinced. White was the way to go, tis old school after all.

Converse: Littlewoods

Shutterbug at Christmas...

So Blanaid Hennessy of Blanaid.com is up to it again... Next Saturday she is turning her studio into a festive shop filled with second hand wonders, jewellery by K Kajoux (gorgeous), furniture, portrait vouchers and loads more!

And she asked me to make the poster for it... Feeling very privileged I jumped right on it! And there it is, Aren't I amazing (I kid, I kid). Both her and I wanted it to reflect the studio and I do think it captured it quite well. Thanks Blanaid for letting me create the poster and giving me some exposure...

So if you can pop down to her studio in Kilkenny next Saturday...

Carry on my wayward son...

Went to the always beautiful Altamount Gardens with the boyfriend today... Oh how I love that house
(I seriously want to live in it: even though I'm sure it is completely derelict inside). And lets not forget the actual gardens... Stunning!

We spent the day messing around and taking photos of each other. He is a better photographer and poser than me (look at that creative pose with the pillar he he). Tis so not fair! He was trying to help me model better (as I have stated before I feel silly and nervous in front of the camera when I do shots for my blog). He really made it fun for me which I was so grateful... I mean I shouldn't feel shy in front of him of all people!

This dress is one I don't think I wear enough, or give enough credit... It is very comfy, the pattern is very seventies (who'd have thought I got it from Penneys?) and has a nice loose fit, yet still has a flattering shape!

Dress/Leggings: Penneys

Ducketts Grove...

Finished my last brief of the year last week for the portfolio. The brief was to pick a building and pick a typeface that would be sympathetic to it and pretty much make the type and the image work together. We also needed space for a paragraph or two. Here is my attempt...

The building I chose was Ducketts Grove. It is a burned down 300 year old mansion just outside my hometown. The Duckett family were very wealthy and liked to show it off, they turned a regular mansion into this massive castellated gothic masterpiece. It is such a beautiful building (even burned down) and I just had to use it for this brief. What do you think?

Tis Cold...

So what is the deal with the weather?!?!?! Tis sunny and lovely one day and the next its a bloody blizzard! The boyfriend and I went for a drive in the car last night and I managed to capture this image on me auld camera.... Snow may be cold and wet and so annoying but man it is so so pretty! I had to wear my fur which I thought I wouldn't wear again til next winter....

Could have used a hat like this one last night! My friend Carol made this and I just had to mention her and her talent. The girl crochets faster than any granny I know! And look how cute and bohemian... Totally gorgeous and effortlessly cool. And the buttons are soooo cute! If you likey let me know... I might be able to get you a good deal he he...

The Last Two Days...

Ok the last two days were pretty hectic in college. Yesterday was such a difficult day because I was doing a stop motion animation and lets just say it left me a little em frustrated (putting it politely)... But at least I had my loverly WW2 outfit so at least I was chic while tearing my hair out. After college the girls and I went to The AIT Stars in their Eyes show which was for the Make a Wish foundation. I wore out my red lippy to be in keeping with the rest of my 40s outfit. My friends Heather and Kathy were in it as the Veronicas! They were amazing and stunning! They didn't win but they were so good I was so proud!
Today in college was much better. Did good work with my animation and my friend Emma were messing around and created new bird shaped eyelashes he he! Lady GaGa eat your heart out! That bird is really on my eyelid...
